Marc - bravo on this post on one of the great singers of the 20th century. I've always sensed a great amount of jazz/blues feeling in her singing. For some reason, I liken her to Johnny Hodges. I always think of Hodges when I hear Patsy's recording of "If You've Got Leavin' on Your Mind." Just think of that mentally - Johnny Hodges playing that melody; there's something about the way she sings that song which always brings Hodges' way of bending notes to mind. But call me crazy for making that comparison ;-)
Cheers,
Chris Tyle
