I remember going to see Ayers at Lake Alice field at U of Florida in the late 70s. Lake Alice field was just that....a big field where the student productions put on huge outdoor concerts, which usually started a little before sundown.

For some reason Ayers was starting late, I seem to remember his plane was delayed or something. The equipment was all set up and the band was there, but he was late. After several announcements, Bernard Purdie, who was the drummer that evening (and WHAT a drummer!) came out and did what amounted to 45 minutes of stand up which placated the crowd until Ayers showed up. I don't remember much about the concert itself....
