In the history of television, I think it's fair to say that one of the finest and classiest shows ever produced was This Is Your Life. The program aired on NBC from 1952 to 1961 and was hosted by Ralph Edwards. In short, the show each week surprised a celebrity guest and proceeded to provide something of an on-set documentary covering their career with the help of surprise guests from the past.
The show actually began as a radio program and ran from 1948 to 1952. Edwards was the creator of this biographical intervention, having started it as a way to entertain recuperating troops after World War II.
But enough of all that. Here is one of my favorite episodes: This is Your Life Boris Karloff! For a monster, this guy had enormous grace and stage presence, even when there were no speaking lines (for more shows in the series, visit YouTube)...

Make my daily visit to Jazzwax and find ... Boris Karloff!!
You never cease to entertain, Marc.
Thanks -- and Happy Holidays.
