In April 1959, David Allyn's newly released album I Only Have Eyes for You (Warner Bros.) came to the attention of TV talk-show host Steve Allen. David had been on Allen's Sunday Night Show on NBC the previous year, and Allen wanted David on again to sing Get Out of Town from the new LP. At some point after the show in '59, David and Steve Allen co-wrote Pleasant Dreams, which David recorded with Bob Prince arranging and conducting (David would record it again with pianist Barry Harris in 1975).

Les is still looking for David's first appearance on Steven Allen's show as well as a 1967 appearance by David on the Merv Griffin Show. Time will tell.
