Documentary: Jackie McLean

Gil Noble died in 2012, but from 1968 to 1986, he was seen often in New York on TV as an anchor on WABC's Eyewitness News and as host of Like It Is, a long-running WABC documentary series on black artists and black culture. On July 28, 1983, ABC aired Noble's interview with alto saxophonist and childhood friend Jackie McLean. The interview is warm and insightful.
