Have you started watching the miniseries Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans yet on FX/Hulu? It's a marvelously acted and compelling look at novelist Truman Capote and how he burrowed his way into the hearts of New York's socialites of the 1960s and early '70s and how he destroyed the bridge he built by writing about their dirty laundry in Esquire magazine. To fully appreciate the miniseries and Tom Hollander's spot-on portrayal, you need a full appreciation of Capote, the celebrated author of Breakfast of Tiffany's, In Cold Blood, The Grass Harp and many other short stories, novels, nonfiction and magazine journalism. For a sense of who he was, you must turn to the film A Visit With Truman Capote.
Released in 1966, the 29-minute documentary was directed by Albert and David Maysles, the same duo who filmed What's Happening: The Beatles in the USA, Gimme Shelter and Gray Gardens, to name a few.
