Wonderful Marc! Thank you for this precious collection of videos of the wonderful Astrud!
I was there in '87 in The Hague. Living a few blocks away from the "Congresgebouw", I grew up with the NSJF and all the great music (back when it was a jazz festival...) Best memories! And the 6 gems with the Dutch trio....thanks!
Great videos of a great artist. Funny, one day before her appearance in The Hague, Netherlands on July 11th, 1987 I saw her here in Berlin, Germany at the "Quartier Latin". This concert hall existed from 1970 until December 31st,1989.
Strangely enough, I can still remember this concert quite well, even though it was almost 40 years ago.
Marc, we know from the liner notes to Getz/Gilberto that Gene Lees wrote the English-language lyrics to Corcovado a.k.a. "Quite Nights of Quiet Stars" as used in the Getz/Gilberto album. Did Norman Gimbel write another set of English-language lyrics?

Astrud’s recording of “Look to the Rainbow” made me cry the first time I heard it.

Hi Mark. Yes, of course. Yikes, Gene would have killed me. I've fixed at the site. Thanks!!
