Hi Marc, We are going to miss your Saturday bundle of pieces. There was always enough to keep us going until Monday's post.

Regards,

Hi James. First, thanks for your enormous generosity. You're very kind. As for the Weekend roundup, ya never know what the future holds. At the moment, I'm getting my bearings and tuning up the Archives. Once I have breathing room and bandwidth, I may add it back. Again, many thanks for subscribing at the Founding Member level.

Sorry but as I mentioned earlier I won’t be participating anymore after doing so for many years. I already support a few substacks and there’s no room for more. There are some substacks where support is appreciated but not mandatory for reading. Obviously you chose a different route. A bit disappointing but not the end of the world.

Great introduction. I'm a strong supporter of quality journalism. And every new JazzWax article is a highlight of the day for me. It should be for everyone, who is a serious fan of JazzWax. So, come on, everybody who isn't sure yet, grab the $10.00 of your pocket and support JazzWax. Each and every month.

I have a free day today and I will download the Blue Mitchell album and hear it on my little mp3-player during a little walk through the "Grunewald", a Berlin (Germany) wood.

By the way, one of the great things a about the "new" JazzWax is, that you can write and read commentaries. It's so interesting to read other readers opinions.

You was exactly right. I just came back from my stroll in the woods and it was the perfect mood for that record. And one perfect song in this album: "Strollin" 🙂

I didn't expected that this album is so string dominated. I like that very much. The arrangements were great and it's so interesting to hear two completly different arranging styles from these two masters: Tadd Dameron and Benny Golson. 👍

Through my walk in woods these arrangements remembers me of the Stan Kenton album "Lush Interlude" from 1959 with string arrangements by Pete Rugulo. An album that I like very much and didn't heard since years. So, my album of this evening will be "Lush Interlude".

"Strollin' " is my favorite as well! Sublime. Nice connection, Lush Interlude. Very much so.
