She was dazzling to see live. In addition to her astounding technique, she was an entertainer with an expressive face and could be very funny on the bandstand. If she hit a note that didn't please her, the stink eye she gave the audience always brought the laughter. I got to meet her when we invited her to play at one of our Los Angeles Jazz Society events at the old Musicians's Union on Vine Street in Hollywood. I also caught her at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Enjoy your posts, Marc. Thanks!

I was just going to comment on the same, as I also had the chance to see her in LA. She was not only thunderously facile but a great showman (showlady..) and entertainer. t one point during the show, she had everyone up and during a mariachi dance line..

Glad you highlighted her, Marc.

I luckily discovered Marc's fine efforts long ago. Now, at this venue, its perfected. Here, my education increased into the ionsphere with Doroty D. I had no idea, jazz mope I am . But gaining knowledge, thanks to this great person named Marc Myers.

Hi John. Deeply moved and humbled. So glad you're enjoying JazzWax. And I'm glad you feel as I do, that the move to Substack, though forced due to the collapse of the company that managed my last one, is a vast improvement on every level. Thanks so much for your kind words. Overjoyed you're along for the second chapter!

These are great videos! That makes you want more 😉. Unfortunately, I didn't spend much time with her records. Thanks to this post I'm really looking forward to know a little bit more about her. So, my research begins right now. 👍 Have a nice New Year's eve, Marc. And of course the same for all here in our great JazzWax family.
