Wow and wonderful memories on WRVR, 106.7 in the 70's. Listening to them helped me set up some great jazz shows at Kean in NJ. I would go to the Half Note or the Vanguard, meet the artists and book a gig at the college to educate many on future greats and legends. Many memorable events that we still talk about during "back in the day" discussions. Thanks for the great updates and education.

"Little Rootie Tootie" is the intro for the weekly jazz program I host on our campus station, for the last 22 years. It has all that I love about Monk.

Another great weekend post.

The photo which you shot last Sunday is wonderful. Looks like a real village instead of New York City. It also reminds me of a scene from the film "It's a Wonderful Life" with James Stewart. He's running through the snowy street where he sees "Mr. Potter" (played marvelous by Lionel Barrymore) in his office. I don't know why this photo reminds me of this scene.

The highlight for me is your recommendation of the book "More Than The Music" by Hank O´Neal. I´m just ordered the book and I´m looking really forward to read it.

In the last days I read a lot of US radio stations in the 60s and 70s and their DJs. Very interesting. I found also a website called "Pure Jazz Radio" www.purejazzradio.com

It looks like this is a platform that unites a wide variety of jazz programs. Last night I heard "The Jazz Capitol of the World" with Carla Lilien. I really liked her style. In the description it says: "a long time Jazz Broadcaster from the NY Tri-State area and passionate advocate for great music...". But it seems like the show that I heard was more than 10 years old. She said something about Bud Powell, who would have turned 90 years old these days. But that would have been in 2014. I couldn't find anything about her broadcasting career. Does anyone here in the JazzWax family know anything more about Carla Lilien? Is she still with us?
