We’re on the cusp of the Thanksgiving week in the U.S., when emails slow to a trickle, everyone tries to get their work done early and thoughts turn to food, fireplaces and naps.
Since it's Thanksgiving, thank you for all your research and for having good ears to appreciate such a diverse range of fine music. Two suggestions for stories - all the recordings that Bill Evans did with Jim Hall, including group settings, and Joanie Sommers' recordings of standard jazz tunes, including bossa nova. Regards, John Companiotte, Atlanta, GA
I´m always impressed about the tradition of Thanksgiving in the US. Here in Germany we have nothing comparable to Thanksgiving. I like the idea that almost everyone meets up with their family on this day.
„The Beast in Me“ is really a highlight in television drama. It´s on my watching list and after your post, Marc, I started with the first two episodes tonight and they are really exciting. Claire Danes was so good in „Homeland“ and it seems like, that this show has the same quality.
Thanks for the recommendation of the Gigi Gryce tribute. I´m not home at the time of the broadcast but there´s a website, where you can hear all the shows with Sid Gribetz after they aired. So I will hear the show a few days later.
Thanksgiving is a lovely day, Christian, especially in New York with the parade. Reminds us all of slower times. Glad you’re enjoying “Beast.” No sctot’s face worries more than Danes’. Thanks for sharing the Sid link.
Sans Souci - Well chosen title, i.e., carefree, relaxed, lighthearted. I like that!

Thanks for your kind words, John. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. And thanks for the ideas. I'll add to the list.
