You also brought back memories of being in college and going to the Half Note to meet the young artists (Benson, Klugh...) so I could book them for concerts at Kean College (73-4). I had to plan on the cover of a 2-drink minimum per set!

Excellent update reminding us of the great Jim Hall. It brought back some wonderful memories of seeing him perform in the NYC area.

the song is “Sometime Ago” written by Sergio Maheinovitch (forgive spelling) from Argentina. I miss all these guys!

Hello I have that beautiful record. But i'd rather prefer the records with Pete LaRoca. Singa me softly iof the blues and the rcord with swdich folk songs . Farmer is excellent as is the "basra" rhythm La Roca and Swaollow

This is so great, thanks for this post. I've never seen the connection between Jim Hall and Wes so clearly as listening to his solo on the video you linked to at the bottom of your post (Art Farmer Quartet live on the BBC’s Jazz 625, recorded 1964). Check out Jim's solo on the last tune, Bag's Groove and then Wes on No Blues from his 1965 Smokin' at the Half Note and you can really hear this. Amazing!

Great observation, Doug! Glad you enjoyed. Four more days of Jim in the JW pipeline.

I'm really looking forward to the Jim Hall week. Great idea to honor this wonderful guitarist. I just read two two interviews with Jane and Jim Hall. And later tonight I will see both TV appearances from England and the US.

By the way, I enjoy using Google Aps to see where the jazz clubs were located. So thanks Marc, for the exact details of the addresses of the Half Note.

Glad you're enjoying Christian. Jim's standout albums during that period, from "The Bridge" and "Intermodulation" to the Desmond LPs, overshadowed quite a few others that are just as good. Fun to revive them this week.
