1. Jimmy Hopps (b. 1939) is an exceptional jazz drummer mostly inactive since the 1970s. I heard him live about 50 years ago in Washington, DC. He had one of the smallest drum kits I've ever seen, but it certainly didn't inhibit his playing.
Marc, I hope you don't mind if I also mention a new CD I received just yesterday. It’s the soundtrack to the 1983 film "Never Say Never Again" with Sean Connery. The music is by Michel Legrand. I’ve just listened to the double CD on my headphones and am absolutely thrilled with it. For anyone interested, here is some more information.
I’ve been checking out your "New Music Of Note" picks yesterday and today, and I have to say - another great selection. I listened to bits of everything and I just ordered one of the albums: Stanley Cowell’s "lllusion Suite".
I admit that I own very few ECM albums. I can't quite explain it. I'm familiar with many of the recordings, heard them on radio, etc. Many of them didn't really grab me. But that’s really a matter of personal taste. But now I'm really looking forward to the "Illusion Suite" 👍.

2. Rita Marcotulli (b. 1959) is a first-rate Italian pianist and composer who has been active mostly in Europe for many years.
Thanks Bill for your insights!

No problem, Christian. I run JazzWax like a clubhouse. Sharing and exploring with members are what the blog is all about.
